Meet Our Cecil Week Community

Welcome to the heart of Cecil Week – our incredible community of passionate individuals and organisations who are making a real difference for wildlife and animal welfare.

From event organisers hosting impactful gatherings in their local communities to dedicated advocates raising awareness about conservation, these are the people turning Cecil’s legacy into meaningful action.

Discover the inspiring stories of members who are standing up for animals, creating change in their communities, and building a global movement for wildlife protection. Their dedication and creativity demonstrate how individual action can spark collective impact and honour Cecil the Lion’s memory through positive change.

Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting (CBTH)

The Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting (CBTH) is dedicated to ending the cruel and outdated practice of killing wild animals for sport. Trophy hunting causes immense suffering, pushes endangered species closer to extinction, and has no place in a compassionate, modern society.

CBTH campaigns for strong legal bans on trophy hunting and the import of animal trophies, and works to close loopholes that hunters exploit worldwide. Join us to help protect wildlife and ensure that animals are valued for their beauty and role in nature—not as trophies.

There were 200,000 lions in the 1970s. Today there are no more than 25,000 - and perhaps as few as 10,000.
